West Lafayette area businesses can take part in a free workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 14, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time to learn more about how to successfully vie for federal funds that can help their company grow and compete. The workshop also will include a presentation from Lockheed Martin Ventures, which seeks to fund entrepreneurs and small companies developing disruptive technologies. The Indiana Procurement and Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), IN3 (Indiana Innovation Institute) and NavalX Midwest Tech Bridge are providing hands-on assistance to qualifying small businesses. The session will offer guidance on how to take advantage of the federal Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) programs. The West Lafayette program will take place at the Purdue Research Foundation’s Kurz Purdue Technology Center, located at 1281 Win Hentschel Blvd. in West Lafayette, Indiana. Free parking is available on site, and lunch will be served. Lockheed Martin Ventures is seeking to invest in companies that are developing disruptive, cutting-edge technologies in core interest areas and new markets important to Lockheed Martin. In addition to capital, it provides partner companies with access to world-class engineering talent, state-of-the-art technologies, and research and access to the company’s international business relationships and supply chain. Among the many technology areas of interest are artificial intelligence, autonomy and robotics, data and analytics, advanced manufacturing, biotechnology, cybersecurity, hypersonics, advanced materials, and space technology. The SBIR and STTR programs both offer qualifying small businesses federal funding opportunities with the goals of stimulating technological innovation, engaging small businesses to meet federal research and development needs, fostering and encouraging participation in innovation and entrepreneurship by socially and economically disadvantaged small businesses, and increasing private sector commercialization of innovations derived from federal R&D funding. |
